Columbia Portage Grill: Delicious Barbeque, Seafood, and American Cuisine in The Dalles, OR

This place is so clean and relaxing the food is excellent in not too expensive.It's also located at a hotel and even makes it nicer on the columbia river , oregon

Went to Portage Grill tonight with my wife for our wedding anniversary dinner. This was our first time there. I have to say that this establishment is seriously overlooked, and it is likely to be my new favorite restaurant in town. Just absolutely stunningly good food, great friendly service, and a really nice modern elegant decor. You could literally sit on a couch and watch sports on the TV, between rounds of pool.

We’ve stayed here before but never had dinner or drinks. Glad we did! Sarah and Jennifer were absolutely amazing. Service was great (and I used to work in the industry), the drinks were delicious and their recommendations for dinner were perfect (the salmon was cooked perfectly, loved the prime rib and the Cajun fried chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had ), the four of us look forward to coming back next month with the kids!! Highly recommend!

Come see Sam. Great service. Refreshing atmosphere. Soft country music. Got the prime rib on gluten-free toast with aux jus. Also got the Italian sandwich, which is French dip with marinated veggies and banana peppers. Entrees looked good on menu but only served after four pm.

I ordered the jambalaya chicken and sausage 10 out of 10! It came with a side I was just going to salad, but the special today was gumbo chicken and sausage and I got that too 10 out of 10! And I asked for extra bread and they delivered! 10 out of 10 some of the friendliest waiter and waitresses I’ve met in the Dalles and the food was fantastic! My coworker got the French dip with a steak fries. He said it was a 10 out of 10 the server was passed. There’s a full bar and nails of slot machines 10 out of 10 for sure.

Portage Grill has good food, a full bar, and plenty to keep you entertained—pool tables, pinball, and even some gambling machines (not really my thing, but if that milks your goat, they’ve got 'em!). The seating is nice both inside and out, and there's an ATM on-site too. It’s a laid-back spot that’s great whether you're grabbing a bite or just hanging out with friends.

Food is really good! I love the mac and cheese with bacon! I went there to watch the Seahawks play off game, they have about 4 TVs which is really nice! Loved my bartender, Angela! She is amazing! Fast on making the drinks, and keeping your glass filled! Very friendly and kind. They have a lottery room 6 machines, pool tables, outdoor seating ( only when the weather is nice cause who would want to set out side during the winter ). They also have a conference room for large parties..just call and make a reservation! I would recommend making a reservation if you have more than 5 in your group that way they have time to move tables and to set it up for you.

Had a taco salad and a cup of gumbo. Both were good. I could nitpick like a "gourmet" but what's the point. The food was good. They gave a little cornbread muffin with the gumbo and it was really good. The food came out fairly quickly. The waitress was friendly and courteous, the setting and decor were both good. Looked like they had a decent bar but I didn't imbibe so can't really judge. I'd eat there again without hesitation.
